Frizzled Cochin chick with eye infection

Oh, forgot to ask, how much do I give her. She weighs 4 oz. I think 1/4 cc is too much.
By the way, what is 1/4 cc, I was never taught that ....lol I know .2, .4 and so on.
Thanks

Ok, what is 35mg/kg in dosage for 4 oz?

I don't know how to figure it.
I went ahead and gave her .2 yesterday.

I have not seen her scratch today (but I am not with her all the time), and 90% of the blue on her head is gone. She is now preening, something she has not yet do.

So it is working. I will give another .2 dose today until someone tells me otherwise.

Thanks, I really appreciate your alls help!!!!!

well I think she is going to die. She is very lethargic now, her nasal drainage is now thickened and sticky, her eye has creamy white drainage. She has her mouth opened a little bit more, so I am assuming this is mouth breathing? And the blueness on her head is coming back. However, the odor is going away.

I went ahead and gave her a tad bit more of a shot, this time she bled.

Any chance of saving her?

you can dilute (1:10) the tylan and mist it (not as eficient as proper nebulization but try and use as fine a mister as you can) in addition to the shots (by the way did you consult the article I posted above for the tylan dosage?-if not please do) mist AFTER you have removed as much of the nasal descharge as possible (suck it out with a childrens thingy (sorry the word escapes me) or other suitable/similar instrument)... I know it looks hoorrid but you just never know...have seen half dead bitds pull thru>all you can do is try)

It just now came up for me. I will read it.

As far as a nebulizer, I have one, should I use it on her?

Oh, she is up walking, eating, drinking, her eyes look better, she is still somewhat blue on her head though, oh, she is also chirping. Last night she would not chirp or even move if you walked next to her, but she is now.

Does this get worse at night?

she is doing much better, her eyes are normal, but she is still rattling in her chest.

I gave .2 Tylan for 3 days SQ, shall I continue this until the rattling is gone? Or stop?

Also, should I give her bacteria food now or wait?

I appreciate your time helping me, if it wasn't for you all she would had died.

Does this disease kill others with no signs? I cannot understand how 2 from the same person died with absolutely no signs of ever being sick and she has gone through all this.

Thanks again I appreciate it.

This is a little late, but I was asked to update on Mazzie. Yes, Mazzie is alive and well. She is now considered a carrier and I keep her in a large bird cage in my house. I have since introduced her to the outdoors and this year is doing alot better than she ever did before. It took her over a year to get her feathers in so I could never put her outside in cool weather at all. Now she is fully feathered and I have had her out in fall, but not winter. I am building a new coop for all my chickens where Mazzie will join them but isolated from them to keep the disease from spreading to offspring. I really thank you guys, I feel if I did not have this forum she would had died. She was in an awful mess!!!

Thanks again and sorry to post so late her update
