Frizzled Guineas????

Completely normal for keets getting ready for a new set of feathers. Guineas will go through several permutations before they become their unusual looking selves.

You did not make a mistake making the purchase if they are bright and active. So don't become overly concerned.

I'm not concerned but thank you. I was just curious about the frizzled looking feathers. I've raised several batches of keets and have never seen this before so I was puzzled. Only 3 of the 12 from that batch have it so thought I would check in and get people's thoughts on it. Thank you all.

More than likely, their feathers are messed up, or maybe its the colored breed? but either way, they won't be frizzled for long. I used to have vulturines, and I have 2 friends that breed them now. They are expensive, $800 a pair is what they used to go for when they were easier to find. They're very cold sensitive.

How did they turn out? Do you have any pictures of the frizzling? I am on my second set of keets and haven't experienced the frizzling, would love to see what that looks like.

..... it sure couldn't make them any uglier!

And yes, I have guineas. I think they are incredibly striking in appearance, but not pretty.

I would guess they look Frizzled from a combination of the feathers likely rubbing on the top of the brooder and probably being to close to a heat light. If they turn out to be Frizzled as adults, please tell me, I would buy some of those, LOL!

Have their feathers straightened out any? Some of mine have their wing feathers kind of sticking out more than the others, but it always straightens out. I am thinking that those might be my females, but that is because they are feathered out more than the others. No real proof yet, just a theory.

Almost like the feathers are too long for the wings right now.
