frogs for snack????

Is it a good idea to have ducks WITH chickens? In the same coop? I have heard that it is not because of some maladies that can be passed from one type of fowl to the other. I had thought of getting ducks also, but when I heard about it not being a good idea...decided against.

I have heard that if you do get water fowl you should keep them apart from chickens...same with turkeys. Have I been fed the wrong information?

Hmmmm...... I'd like to know that too.

I wasn't planning on having ducks in the same coop with my chickens, I'd make them their own coop so I could keep them locked up and safe at night. But I have many acres for them to share with the chickens free ranging. My b/f wants to dig a tank (I'm from FL and there we just call them man-made ponds!

) so eventually they would have a very large pond to swim in. I've known several people in my life time that had chickens, ducks, goose, peacock, guineas among other sorts of fowl all running around the property at the same time. I guess I never thought that there was anything bad about that.
