From 12 eggs a day to 0?

It very well could be a thief.
From Storey's Guide to Raising Ducks:
Cats: crushed eggs held together by membranes
Raccoons: eggs with ends bitten off
Skunks : destroyed nests with crushed shells mixed with nest debris
Opposums: smashed eggs with birds that are badly mauled

I am not saying it definitely is a predator, but I would almost prefer a predator getting my eggs than to have an egg eating hen.

If it's a hen, you know what must be done, identify her and remove her from your flock before she teaches others how to break them open...if she hasn't already!
