I agree. I don't think I have ever seen a truly cruel animal trying to survive. An animal doesn't think "Hey that chicken has yellow feet. Imma pick on it bc it is yellow" where as humans do. We can be bootyheads. Animals are like "hmm....you won't make it. Be gone peasant!"
I need me a silkie!! And a white showgirl silkie bc I am loving the breed. Don't tell my kid I said that. I still think Dolly is a ugly cutie. But something about showgirl silkies make me think fur coats and pizzazz.You could make a guess, put whoever you catch in with him, see how they interact. If they get along well (maybe some minor introductory stuff) leave them together, if the one you add looks to be chasing him mercilessly or being too aggressive, take them out.
It is a good idea to pick birds that you know you won't be keeping, test them with him first. When I got my 3 chocolates at 8 weeks old or so, I picked a very docile silkie from the group I had and let them hang out for a few hours at a time. Although silkies seem very accepting for some reason, I had 0 drama. Even in Dec when I got the new 9, the oldest is a few weeks older than the others and hadn't been in with them before. He was happy as a clam at high tide to have the new friends and never even pecked them. Ah, love silkies

Funny part is one is one of the bigger pullets. A RIR and then 3 smaller birds.

. Old memories are something to be cherished. My first flock consisted of a blue haze pullet, two ISA brown sisters, one australorp pullet, one or two white leghorns, and a mix breed cockerel. They taught me quite a bit. Not all positive, but that's living organisms. One of the ISA brown pullets would fly to your arm, and if you hugged her, she would spread her wings. Very cute. The cockerel was an a$s. The australorp was bullied extensively, and after she passed, so was the blue haze. Took me two more of each to realise that having a single bird that doesn't look like the others is a bad idea
