Eh heck, I forgot how young they were, good point on the quite likely lack of pointy saddle feathers yet...Yes, just a little early. Male specific feathering shows up at 12 weeks. Right now your main focus is the comb and any kind of red or gold leakage on the wings (it should be noted that if the bird has red or gold leakage all over the body, this does not mean it's a male). At their age you do kind of start observing their whole body, but don't focus on it too much

I think they almost all lay strange-looking eggs in the beginning. If that occurs for a length of time, then there are other issues but I'd just blow that off and see if her next eggs aren't normal.
