Still Hook only. Going to TSC tomorrow for supplies. Scratch included bc I am out of the goodies. Might also buy them some black soldier larvae but it gets expensive.

I bought mine black solider larvae and they barely would eat it. I suppose I have spoiled chickens.

Oh. Yall need to know Snape almost got his butt kicked today. By me. I was bringing out some water for the little "trough" they have outside for when they are outside their coop/run area. As I was walking, like I normally do to the chicken area, Snape up and attacks my leg. Like wtf.

Snatched him up, pushed him down, and was showing him "Hey I am boss. You are underboss." Cept here comes Hook trying to attack him. Shooed him away and picked Snape up so Hook would leave him alone. Snape pecked the crap out of the side of my eye. Luckily I have glasses and he mostly hit the arm of them. I have a small scratch on the right eye at the corner. It hurts lol.

Needless to say he got shoved down again, and we had a stern talk. Let him go and he ran off then looked at me like I lost my mind.

Snape almost became dinner for his attitude today. Did I discipline him properly? I didn't hurt him or anything. Just put my hand on his back and lowered him down, then put his face (beak) in the dirt. Gently but firm.

Idk why he attacked me. He has never done it before

Cockerels are largely unpredictable, they can act like they love you one day and then decide you are competition for them the next day, especially when spring is nearing. And yes, sitting on them is always good and never let go of them until they go limp. I'm glad you didn't get your eye pecked!
