From egg to chick!

Pics
Snape has himself a gf! And here are some flock photos! Last chicken pic is Atropos in the daytime munching lettuce. And a bonus pic of Olivia's egg. She took a breather yesterday. I get 5 eggs a week give or take. Still waiting on the other freeloaders to start giving me eggs. Then the younger ones in about 2 months. Still haven't found a home for my spare roosters. I do know I want to keep Kithara. The others are free to go do whatever. Except turn into food. 😬

That's the laying girl, isn't it? Wonderful, they're creating their group! Here's to lots of cute moments together, and maybe even her going broody and raising a family!

I was thinking Atropos was black!?! She's blue!
Ok, colors then, black x Blue = 50/50 black and blues, splash x Blue = 50/50 splash and blue or blue x Blue = 50% blue, 25% black, 25% splash 😃 plus maybe some leakage since she has some, and who knows what other surprises!

Which one is Snape? Sorry, I'm not caught up with these chickens! 🤣 They are beautiful, though!

I've always wanted one of my hens to go broody and successfully raise their own chicks, I think it would be really interesting. But all of my broodies have broke after a few days. Orpingtons are said to be very broody, but unfortunately mine isn't.

Same. For the first four years of chicken keeping, I wasn't all that aware of broodiness, and it was not something that I really wanted to have happen. After that point, I became very much interested in having one of my birds go broody, and for 7 years I tried many different things, all with no success. Then Cruella came along. You all know who Cruella is at this point, I can't stop talking about her! She went broody almost a month or less after laying her first egg. That time she was unsuccessful, amd broke after 14 days (her eggs were on day 8 or 9). In her next attempt, she was successful, and with a little bit of help from me, she hatched three Tsouloufati chicks. I love this bird to pieces. Maybe weird, but the first time I saw Cruella, I knew she was destined to do something big, and boy was I underestimating her

. I remember you have an OEGB male, couldn't you get one or two females? They'd make a fine breeding flock, and the females should go broody for sure! Hatchery LFs tend to loose their instincts, as is the case with my Tsouloufates
