From egg to chick!

I agree with you on not putting a regular bantam male with Serama hens. Those larger boys of mine have their own space. I have a few micro and A -class hens that always get extra care and protection… and currently are (fortunately for them) not with the flock. They’re on eggs, so they’re safe! One other thing I forgot to mention is that my tiniest are in a separate space much of the time due to being pursued by the males. It’s such a juggling act! Some do totally fine with the bantam males. Others get a bit frightened, so the mother in me always has a backup plan when they need a rescue. And yes fluffy, it’s SO worth it being a Serama parent! Your girls are really beautiful!!!! I love seeing them. ❤️

Very well said! Shows how much you love these birds, constantly making adjustments for the betterment of their care. Thank you so much for your complements, it means a lot!

Serama parents (who are looking to bring the wonderful serama in most people's backyards) for life:highfive:!

I could actually stick some in the Gemstone Flock pen . . . no males though, Jasper would be mad at competition!

That could be something to try! Don't go for the smaller types of serama though, the larger types should be fine, considering Jasper is small himself (he's your OEGB, Dutch Bantam mix, right?)

I never keep Seramas with LF… ONLY with other bantams. That’s my preference, but other people may say different. I have kept GSB roosters with LF hens, and they’ve done well. I would NOT recommend keeping Seramas and LF together due to size alone. I’d be horrified seeing a LF rooster attempting to breed a teeny Serama hen. Also, any Serama would be subject to bullying, and I’m not willing to see them live in fear of the LF flock members. Others are going to disagree with me, but Seramas aren’t hardy like other chickens and special consideration needs to be taken into account for that.
Note to self. Make the Serama a house chicken. Got it.

I have a run they can have but I can't find any Seramas. I might hatch some. Hubs can shut it lol. Only thing is I don't want roosters. 😳 Kinda can't pick the girls before they hatch. Maybe he will let me hatch some eggs soon though once I can get rid of my 2 extra roosters. No one wants them. Maybe their parent should come get them 🤣

Who owns Lucky and Pelican again?

Not me! Lol.

As soon as you have space though, come get your Grinch! He's gorgeous, I need to get a new photo...

Hatching would be the way to go. And, if you get some roosters, well… you could tell hubs to look at it this way: 3 to 4 Serama roosters equals to 1 LF rooster. 😉 See if he’ll fall for it. 😁
