From run to free range

Hello everyone. I have chickens and ducks who are currently in an enclosed run and coop, we will be moving in two months to a place where they will be able to free range. Any advice how to switched from enclosed to free range?
My chickens put themselves up every night already but the ducks typically do not.

by free range do you mean they can roam your whole yard or does your new property have no fence?

Some clarification on the new "free range" setup would help. To start though, I'd leave them locked in the run for a couple of weeks and then start small. A couple of hours before dark for a few days so that they don't stray too far. Keep in mind that actual free range comes at a risk. I'm not judging. I do it, but I accept the occasional loss as part of my choice.
