We keep an old truck cap over near the edge of our property, and I put straw in it in the winter, so they have somewhere NON-snowy to sit. When it gets really, Really, vermont cold, the ducks will walk 3 or 4 steps, then sit down to warm their feet up on their tummies... then 3 or 4 more steps, then back to warming up the feet... so it's nice for them to have somewhere to walk where they don't have to put their little toes down on the ice and snow...
