Frostbite and coop ventilation and insulation

I was told that Vaseline and Bag Balm make it worse and you should just leave it.
And you received good advice.
Any product put on the comb and wattles with a freezing point that is higher than the expected lows will cause frostbite, not prevent it.
And once frostbite has set in, it should be monitored in minor cases. The only time you intervene is if infection is setting in.
It is always best to prevent it. Frostbite is caused by the build up of moisture in the coop that cannot escape (hence the need for excellent ventilation to remove the moisture) or when the wattles get dipped in water and it freezes on them.

...or during freeze thaw cycles when the air outside is so humid, that's when I've seen FB here.
And when no matter how well you ventilate your coop they go out and nosh on the snow banks, nipping all their wattles(tho mildly). SMH.
