Frostbite on Rooster's Wattles?

Yes, best of luck to both of you! Waffles is pretty unimpressed with my basement-I've got 3 week old chicks down there that will eventually be her coop mates. She wasn't thrilled with the preview of days to come :) Comb seems about the same, I went and bag balmed the other 2 hens before it got dark.

Can't wait for 30 degree days again!

Me too! Tomorrow looks promising!

-31 here this morning. I have very slight heat in the coop just to take the edge off and decent ventilation. No roosters now days but a couple hens with combs, and one had a black spot smaller than a pea today. Otherwise everyone was in good shape. A couple years ago a rooster of mine had swollen wattles from the water font, I massaged his wattles with coconut oil and he didn't have any permanent damage. I now have a bucket with horizontal nipples for drinking water and no more wattles in the water.

I use horizontal nipples as well. Glad to hear that your rooster didn't have permanent damage. I am hoping my gal won't either. Although my RIR had obvious frostbite, I also suspected a very tiny spot on my Australorp. I left her in the coop with a healthy slathering of bag balm. It won't be as cold tonight, I hope they both make a full recovery.
