Here are a couple of pics of the rooster. His comb was totally red a couple of weeks ago. He's not very cooperative and he does not like me. I've only had him for four weeks.





And his hens - they have normal combs. Sorry for the fugly one on the left; she's having a pretty serious molt.

Could he have injured the tips on the ceiling of the coop, or from something he could have bumped into? Have any of the chickens pecked at his comb?

No, none of the above. Even if he did bump his head it would be nearly impossible to do it all the way around his comb so evenly I'd say 1/2 inch on each point all the way around are discolored. None of the other roosters or hens have this problem, but he's got the biggest comb by far.

My chickens have the same thing. It is 20'f here and lower with the wind chill. I rubbed Vaseline all over their combs this evening to see if it helps.
