You can do it. In the dark you will rule him easily. Spurs not long yet but can still scratch. Try wearing a leather glove on hand used to handle legs. Handle him more than actually needed to familiarize yourself with how he can peck and kick. It will also serve to calm him down. With gameroosters we harvested that proved to be wild from a lack of handling all production season, we as kids would each take one inside and sit in chair to watch TV for an hour or so. Process calmed us and birds down greatly.
