Frozen Eggs: are they safe to eat?

Just a general thread to ask what others think.

I live in NH it we have had some VERY cold weather. Eggs of course are getting very cold OR freezing before they are gathered.

So, what do you all think??

I don't eat them if the shell's cracked. I thaw them and give them back to the birds.

Frozen non cracked eggs I put in the fridge to thaw. Cracked eggs go straight to the dog since he waits for eggs regardless of what they look like.

Frozen and cracked are tossed. If they aren't cracked they go in fridge. of course if they are not cracked I can't be 100% certain they are frozen. lol

You could risk it, but it's chancy. You never know if there is just a tiny hairline crack in the shell, and if that is the case than bacteria can seep through the shell.

I never keep frozen eggs, just because it is better to be safe than sorry

I don't totally waste them. If I see cracks, over the fence they go; don't even make it into the house. No cracks?...Dw's call. She'll separate them into their own bowl in the fridge. They get used somewhere along the line.

The obviously cracked ones get nuked for warm protien for my barn cat. The rest go on the counter in cardboard cartons. since like Mike said who knows if they are frozen. If any become leakers they are relegated to the cat, but the rest go into cartons for me and my customers.

If an egg is not cracked & you want to know if it's frozen... just spin it. An normal raw egg sloshes around inside. (The spin has a slow wobble to it because of the liquid contents.) If it's frozen solid, then that egg will spin fast & smooth.

Have never been able to figure just how to do this....
......one went off the table then it was cracked.
