Hello I have a 6 month old Bantam Rooster and I have two RiR female chicks(1 month old)
The aggressive RIR chicks keep pecking my rooster, and the Rooster doesn't do anything other than just freeze and stop moving, he does this alot when the Chicks are around him,
Is this normal for roosters to freeze randomly?
He also does when he sees other animals,

Sounds like he's not sure what he should do to the little brats who are aggravating him. :D
I've seen this happen when I introduced a new hen to a rooster. She immediately pecked him in the face and let him know that she was boss. And he fell in love with her instantly.
Guess that's where the word 'henpecked' came from. ;)

Chickens, roosters especially seem to do that when they want to avoid being hurt. They hunch down, trying to protect their face so the jerk pecking them doesn't take out an eye. My new Serama roo hides facing the corner when the hens go after him, to protect his heaed as they peck at it. I keep separating him but he flies out of his pen.
