I made a custom blend for the strawberries, again these are Seascape. 50% coco coir, 25% perlite and 25% peat moss. I feel bad about the peat, but our water is extremely alkaline and hopefully this will help counterbalance that some. I read that this is the mix the University of AZ uses for their strawberries and they should know.

I removed all the soil from the roots of the plants, rinsed well with water and trimmed them so they fit in the net cups. Then trimmed a few runners with some brown spots on the leaves. I think it was sun scald from the store, but this should also compensate for some of the root loss as well

New grow lights are LED and warm white, a little less shocking to the eyeballs early in the morning. Lights and fans are on timers and run for 14 hours.

Idk if the led is less shocking. They sure make an imprint on my eyeballs in the mornings.

All done. The air pump can run up to eight airlines so I had to MacGyver some plugs for the extra outlets for now. I’m seriously thinking about going to get some more strawberry plants tomorrow. I have two seven gallon containers sitting empty, another bucket that has been cut in half and 2” net cups coming from Amazon Monday. The other bucket is for lettuce and greens, but those 7 gallon things were specifically for strawberries. Anyway, as it worked out I only need one fan for that whole setup because it has great flow so I get my little fan back, yay! Once I get the other bins and bucket set up this will be at capacity.

I vote for more strawberries :drool

Started the day at the park, then made nutrients for a few things and changed them, watered in the hibiscus and attached welded wire fencing to a trellis. The Carolina jessamine has tiny tendrils it uses to cling to stuff so the 2x2 wood wasn’t going to work.

Then went grocery shopping, and now I’m toast.

Gorgeous hibiscus! Sounds like it's time for you to put your feet up and chill for a while :)
