@N F C there’s not much to see right now but a mess tbh.
This is where the previous sun garden area was. We tore that down and I’m attaching the wire fence to these green stakes instead.

This is one of the raised beds. The second and third pics are water reservoirs that go in the bottom of the beds. Excess moisture will collect in them and if I use the proper soil then it will wick that moisture and keep the plants happy when it’s hot. I am still debating about whether to use them or not,
These beds are 17” tall, 2 feet wide and 8 feet long, there will be three in the area above.

I’m using two of these totes, formerly water tanks for a couple of shrubs, and two of the trellises for the dragon fruit. I have to find a place for them in the shade garden

Shade garden is a disaster! I have two shorter beds to go in here and all of the areas around the edge are getting weed barrier. In the area around the middle
trellis I’d like to add some stepping stones and then plant some creeping thyme between them as a natural weed barrier. I have some, I just haven’t planted it yet

Still need to add some dirt to this planter around the olive tree. This is a high spot in the yard and the soil runs off pretty bad so I’m working on it. Hopefully the planter will keep the roots of the tree covered anyway. Blocks are to keep the chickens from bathing too close to the roots. The old gates on either side of the feeding area there will provide some shade for the buckets. I plan to use a piece of welded wire fencing to create an arched cover that I can put shade cloth on for summer

I like seeing pictures of your yard, there's always something going on there.

Have you grown dragon fruit before?
There’s too much going on lol. I’m glad to be getting stuff done though, the summer was just too much.

I haven’t grown dragon fruit before, I’ve never even tasted it. I think they look cool though and if we like the fruit, even better. Plus, being in the shade garden the birds can’t get it before we do! Have you ever had it before?

I'm the same as you in the dragon fruit department...never grown or tasted it but it looks cool. I've heard on the chef shows it doesn't have a lot of flavor, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing imo

I agree, sometimes light flavors are what you want. I would probably add it to a fresh fruit platter. From what I’ve read it’s good in salads too.
