Explain this please, the turkens are appealing to me. Concerned about the mosquitos, but appealing enough to try. Hairless dogs, cats and rats are nasty.

I can't really answer your question about that, as I don't have a bunch of mosquito's over here. We don't grow grass and we drag the yard until there's nothing but dirt and rock's, so there's nothing for them to hide in. There are also no pool's of water that are standing for day's at a time for them to lay the egg's in. I'm pretty sure that there are other people that live in Texas that have Turkin's too, so you might ask them about the mosquito's in your area.

I can't really answer your question about that, as I don't have a bunch of mosquito's over here. The larger ones with bare patches on the rumps developed scabs from the bites. I skinned those at butcher. Were not visually appealing, but I knew the cause. Living in a neighborhood, the county mosquito truck finally caught up with all the blood suckers. The feathered ones get bites around the eyes. Last year we had Buffalo Gnats out the yin yang. Biting gnats that had to die. Living in a swamp, we don't have an option of no standing water.

Out of the 3 that hatched, 2 are twice the size of Yellow. They are also showing reddening combs at 4 weeks. Still hopeful that Yellow is a hen, but 2 cockerels. Nice growth rate.

The bowties are the funniest. The fluff looked like an accent. Turns out, the single piece of fluff is a single feather.

I read somewhere that mosquito's don't like peppermint. Maybe you could check into that and spray them with a peppermint spray?

I'm afraid the mosquitoes didn't read that they were supposed to be repelled. Nothing is full proof, I've put lantana clippings in the chicken run and they left them alone. Maybe one of the chicken resistant plants. Thanks for the idea. I will try it.

No, DH and I are not mint lovers. But I know mint and lamb are very popular.

No, I have never tried any peppermint chicken, and haven't heard of anyone that has tried it. This site may also have some idea's for you for the mosquito's. I hope that you will find something that will work for you over there:

I use mosquito barrier, concentrated garlic juice. Won't hurt animals.
