Fugly Farm

Remember last summer when my dark eyed girl went brood for the 2nd time when the temp's were 116F.? Well a few day's before they were due to hatch, I gave her a couple egg's from my incubator to see what would happen. The 2 chick's hatched, but one of the other hen's grabbed them and bit the head's off, then the other hen's had dinner.
I think that hen would have ended up as dinner..

Flock update: Last night I stuffed the broody in the nest box in the big coop and moved the chicks to the roost in there. Tonight I'm sitting outside waiting for the sun to go down and hoping they'll go into the big coop on their own. I got a pic of tge chick with the two tone bow tie. I think it might be a roo but sneaky about it. The comb is a bit large but it's not very pink

I had to put a waterer on the roost between the bigs and the chicks and I did not have to lock up the mini coop. I think the chicks feel safer in the big coop, I don't blame them! The mini will be used to provide deep shade this summer and I'm keeping the biggest waterer in there.
