Fugly Farm

I candled the eggs this morning, movement in both :yaI’m hand turning five times per day.
I ordered another dozen eggs from a different source, they should ship next week. The new batch are penciled, blue and black. I’d rather get all the baby stuff out of the way at once and decide on who to keep if any hatch; 4 is the max and all will be hens with extras going on Craigslist in early Spring.
The cooler bator is to hold those new eggs for a few days while these first two go into lockdown and hatch. We could only find a 25 watt bulb at Home Depot so we tried it but it got up to 165 degrees in the cooler! I have 15 watt bulbs coming by mail, hopefully we’ll get this dialed in before we need it. Total expenses on that are now $20.
I’m purchasing a stock tank for sheep to use as a pool. It’s 70 gallons and we’ve decided to try it on the patio first. It’ll fit behind the shade thing we have there after I move it away from a wall, will prevent it from collecting mud and dirt, and keeps it on high ground for water flow when draining and cleaning. I’m guessing it’ll be moved. I know my husband and I have complained much about no shade for that patio but it’s still got no shade. So this is not a permanent solution but will work for now. Also, he’s not going to be happy about all the poop on the patio and neither am I. I’m happy to at least get him to build me a set of steps or a ramp though. I can’t believe I had to remind him that the ducks at the park don’t hop out of the pond onto a ledge and then down to the ground. He’s looking for the least amount of work possible and will try to half ass the whole thing if I let him. I’m looking for the work on the front end to make maintenance easy.

We have much less wind today than yesterday. We took the pups to the park before the sun was up, went grocery shopping, got some house work done and then I planted the garlic, some lettuce and carrots. I decided I need more soil in the garden so will make a trip to Home Depot after work one day this week, then plant a few more things.
