The boy stopped by today. One of the ducks hatched here now has her own brood of babies, 9 of them! They also have 5 chicks. Crazy kids.

Sunday is the day for painting the outside of the coop. I have paint, pigment powders and a new sign for the outside once it’s done

It’s about 100* here this afternoon, but it’s supposed to cool down to the mid 90’s by next weekend. It won’t be long and the overnight lows won’t really be very cool. Blah!
The plan for the old bunny pen is to move it outside, put it on blocks and use boards to define planting space kind of like a keyhole garden. The beds can only be about a foot wide, but will be sufficient for vertical growing or small crops like lettuce, spinach, etc. My plan for this summer is to plant a couple of areas in the sun garden with the three sisters. I ordered some fresh corn and bean seeds from Native Seed Search, I love that place. Will probably do 2 separate areas, one with squash and one with pie pumpkins. Still waiting for the banana plant to ship, got the apple tree into a pot and into the shade garden. Next weekend we go to the work farm again to check out the fruit trees and get some compost.

I happened upon the sign maker while looking for something else and splurged, but I like it. Yes, we have been pretty toasty, it’s only going to worse from here though. Speaking of finding a home, any luck yet?

There's a company house waiting for DH and me to move into and is supposed to be ready by the end of May. I hope it's ready because the moving truck with all our "valuables" will be showing up there then. We'll be comfy there while we look for a place of our own (not that I'm going to be in a big hurry to move again right away).

Yeah, our cats weren’t thrilled and their trip was only five hours so I imagine yours will be a bit rough. You’re not going it alone are uou?

You have no idea how much I’d like to take you up on that! I have never been quite that far across the southern part of the country. I’m pretty sure hubs would end up in jail and the teenager would end up in the hospital though I jest, sort of.

Papa and the girl. I think she was about two in this pic, so he was around 62. We were in So Cal then, I was likely pregnant with the boy. The Pintera is behind them, it had a 375 horse V8 in it, super fun!
