I decided on homemade cream of mushroom soup for dinner with a salad. I used a chefs sampler pack of mushrooms and WOW! So much better flavor than with cremini alone.

The recipe says to blend the soup before adding the cream. I skipped that step, used thyme as I don’t have tarragon, and used onion powder because my onions were gross. Still came out fantastic.

Pretty close to normal for us right now though. There have Halloween nights too hot to dress up and with makeup melting

Our Halloween nights were either freezing cold or raining. It was always disappointing to have to wear a coat over the costume.

We had quite a few rainy Halloweens in California. Before that I lived on a farm and town was an hour away so I don’t recall really doing anything for it as a little little kid.

We have either a Gambel’s quail or a California quail that I think is living in our yard. He’s here every morning and enjoys some scratch with the chickens. Last night I was sitting on the patio with my daughter waiting for the chickens to roost and he came up on the patio within five feet of us. He’s becoming less wary of humans but boy does he run fast! We surprised each other one day and he took off like a shot, little dust devils flying behind him.
