If all goes well we will be getting some chicks from Tractor Supply this Wednesday. They said they order surprise packages - they don't know what breeds they'll be getting. We are buying some chicks because soon because of the warm weather our cows will be attracting a lot of horse flies, and last year we found out that chicks love them and we were able to drastically change the fly/horse fly population.
Your logic for getting more chicks is great!

Ours demolish the horrendous tick population in just a day or two, which really comes in handy.

Leia is doing a bit better. Just force fed her with my mom and she HATES that:)  We looked for worms in her poop and my mom said she possibly saw a couple. Thanks for all your prayers!

:ya yay! That's such good news! How's she doing now? :)

You are making me wish that it is 2017! We are hopefully getting some chicks then. None of the fancy breeds that you guys are getting though.

Haha, what breeds are you guys getting? :)

We picked up the chicks! They are all bantams and were straight run, but the worker there was able to sex them for us. We only wanted pullets, of course.

Any idea what breeds they are?

1. This one has a single comb, and feathered legs. Thinking bantam Cochin?

2. I can't tell what kind of comb she has, but it definitely isn't single. She has feathered legs too.

3. Welsummer?

4. Yup, this one is a Buff Silkie!

5. White Sultan.

6. I have no ideas of what this one is. She is bearded.

7. This one is so cute. Do you think she's a Golden Sebright? She's super tiny.

I'm not going to try to guess the breeds;) But they are soooo cute!

@Farmgirl47 , I have no idea! They don't look like any of my bantams, so I really don't know.

Oh, wait, I know what breed they are! It's called "Cute."

Unfortunately, my mom is just as bad as I am about succumbing to chicken math!

If it weren't for my dad, we would probably have 100 birds running around......

Some of our friends kindly ordered two Turkey poults for us last fall, and we picked 'em yesterday! They are both so cute, but sadly they will be dinner in the future.
