My husband and I came home this evening after working with our horses. Checked on the chickens, made sure they were all in bed and proceded to come in the house to make dinner. While my husband jumped in the shower, our dog Trixie (full blooded boxer 6 months old) started freaking out, crying, whimpering, barking... you name it at the front door. I walked over to her tried calming her and she wouldn't stop. So, I opened the door, stood on the porch and looked all around... I saw nothing. When my husband got out of the shower, Trixie started tugging on him. He thought she wanted to play and told her to go lay down til he could get dressed. She again started whimpering, crying and barking at the door. So once again... opened the door went out on the porch... and she started tugging on my husband again. Both of us took a one look at eachother and grabbed the guns, flashlights, and headed to the coop with Trixie in tow. We searched the area and came back to the house. Thankfully the chickies are okay... scared something off, don't know what, and noticed a full moon and heard a few animals in the distance. Needless to say, I can not sleep now, worried about my babies, especially after loosing one of our ducks last week. I now have the windows open, can't sleep (worried) and Trixie is sleeping in the kids room at the window (where she never sleeps, unless kids are home). I guess she is babysitting the chickens... since she can see them from where she is. We live on 40 acres and are surrounded by trees. So of course we have every animal/predator you can think of. I guess the reason I am writing this is to let you all be aware that with a full moon... means higher predator activity since they are able to see better.

Take care... Be safe... and may all the chickies everywhere have a peaceful night!!!

No kidding...
I heard Coyotes howling from the next street over on Monday night. There were at least 3 and the neighbourhood dogs were going nuts.
On Tuesday, I was coming home from work and I saw this white thing walking down my street...I was like what's a guinea pig doing out by itself? So I turned and got it in my headlights and it wasn't a piggie; it was a possum who wasn't really amused about being in the spotlight...

LOL... your welcome. I just thought since I was up anyways LOL. Finally got to bed about 3:00. Got up this morning, all are doing well, no attacks... I am so happy

Good luck during the full moon stage to all.
