I was looking to add a Walnut comb into colorful egg layers with an eye on easy sexing traits (barred feathers). Also keeping an eye on table qualities, aiming for dual purpose.

It's too soon to tell if I nailed it or not but I'm off to a great start with this guy, a F2 in the project. Thus far I'm getting head dots on male chicks and the girls are coming in a lot darker with their barring and the boys are feathering in brightly.

It'll take a LONG time to sort out the egg color and what the boys carry. Lot's of test hatches in my future.

We'll see how many prospects I end up with to move forward.

The 3rd generation is when I'll need to sort through the undesired recessive traits that may pop in for a visit. Gotta breed through it for the end result. There will be a lot of culls in this process so that's why the dual purpose traits need to move forward too.

Gonna have to teach him how to pose for pictures, he wasn't cooperating much. :lau
