Hi Wonderwend
Regrettably Our Rosalie didn't pull through. She was so far gone that she had no strength to fight anymore.her organs had shut down It was heartbreaking but Hubby & I couldn't see her in any more pain. We spoke to our vet again who agreed that Rosie had lost so much there was nothing else we could try.She was sent to sleep on 13th February and not a day has gone by when I haven't missed her but we couldn't see her suffer anymore.we took her out on the lawn that friday but she kept falling over so spent the day in my arms . letting her go was the hardest thing ive ever done but it's a decision that had to be made.

I am unsurprised but deeply saddened to hear this news. Assuming that's a picture of Rosalie, she looks like she was a character!
You made the toughest decision but the right one xxxx
Love and luck to you

Thank you Wonderwend yes that's Rosalie. She was a character such a friendly nature the first to eat from my hand the first to lay and unfortunately the first to leave. She used to love her mealworms in a treat ball and would play 'football' against Penny and Agatha(bluebell and light Sussex ) to get the treats.she will always be missed.

Please see my previous post "nystatin third dose" i need help with this please my hen isnt drinking so what is the brown liquid she just bought up?

Hi to you
Some tips for prevention fungal infection in chickens.
Fungi are in a constant battle with the natural chicken microflora( all the microbes that live in symbiosis with the chicken) when the fragile equilibrium between this two population is disrupted, like after a massive treatment whit broad spectrum antibiotics( that kill exclusively only the microbes) or feeding your chicken with moldy feed ( increase the fungi population) an outbreak of the fungi could happen.
There are some simple every day things, that we can do to decries the chance of an outbreak :
1. Never, but never, feed your chickens with moldy feed.
2. Don't buy amount of feed that is over 30 -40 days of use.
3. Change every day the water of your chickens. If you cant change every day you can put in them 1drop/liter drinking water, normal bleach.
4. Clean and disinfect( I disinfect with bleach) all feeding/ drinking tools at least once a week.
5. If you can, ferment your feed, fermented feed is full of probiotic bacteria that keeps the fungi in bay.
6. If you cant ferment your feed, give them probiotics from outer source, probiotic yogurt, ACV( un filtered),human probiotics capsules.
7. Always have in hand some Copper Sulfate it is a good initial treatment for fungal infection( 1gram/2liter of drinking water for 5 days)
for mor information you can reed in this link:

Remember prevention is better than treatment.
Good luck in the future !
