I have a question about eggs. Our girls (two SA, one Pekin, one KC) have all been molting and/or broody for the last two months. Two started laying again this past week and everything seems good. Today, we had three eggs in the nest. Two were normal, one was... wrinkly? I’m not sure how else to put it. It was smaller than normal, oddly-shaped, and had wrinkles all throughout the shell, almost like a bad shrink-wrap job. I would have included a picture, but our toddler has learned to give cracked eggs to the dogs and automatically threw it to them before I had a chance to examine it further. Is this kind of egg normal for a first-lay after molting? Our ducks are fed purina flock-raiser and we supplement calcium daily. They also have plenty to forage and are given mealworms and kitchen scraps as treats.
