I saw this photo showing side eyed Chloe but I can't copy and paste it because it is illegal (ended up deleting the post 2 seconds later) but here's what it said:

Her: Where are you going to college?
Me: I'm going to trade school.

College requires 4 years of studying for medical, law firm and such in order to get your diploma. Trade school on the other hand gives you 6 weeks to a year to get your diploma.
Or up to two years, followed by apprenticeships... leading to six-figure jobs. One of my highschool best buds went through a welder's program which lead to an apprenticeship with a ship breaker which lead to an underwater welding gig which lead to working for a company doing underwater repairs on oil platforms all over the world. He retired 10 years ago and is living mostly happily ever after.

As is with college educations, you can choose poorly and enter a dying or overcrowded field but, with a little perspective and judgement, you can graduate with a marketable skill and actual experience in the discipline. I graduated from a 4 year university and the only things $100,000+/- in books and classes did were prove 1) that I could spend 4 years retaining and repeating what I was taught, and 2) the diploma itself was a card that got me entry for interviews. Ironically, no job, career or position I've ever held was related in any way to my major.

Five years ago, I spent $2,700 and four weeks getting a commercial drivers license. Two of those years have been six figure years, one year barely missed and the other two were honorable mentions, lol.

Now, paying the debt I owe to the thread, Happy Birthday, USMC!

That's a lot to know about colleges and trade schools. You've done a lot. Kudos to you and your high school friend.
