Funny Faverolles

Thanks for responding with such great info! I love reading people's personal experiences with their birds!

I tried to find the official Faverolle thread but I couldn't find one so I guess they're just not as popular as some of the other breeds.

This is strange to me.

They're the most adorable chicks I've ever seen. Like... it's almost too much adorable-ness! They're also strikingly beautiful adults.

But they ARE different! I couldn't get over how different they are from my other chicks. They have so much chick down! It's very thick and plush!! They are also playing in their water almost like ducklings! I've never seen chicks do this!

I got 3 roosters and 6 hens, well... cockerels and pullets at this point.

How are they as far as health? I've read some places that they can be delicate so I was worried about that.

Also, do any of you have any experience with them in the heat? I am a little concerned about that.

I usually let my broodies hatch biddies out, so I'll probably let them get it out of their systems. Hopefully they won't all go broody all the time!

Thanks again for letting me join in!

Same here!! :)

Exactly, I don't see why they are a bit less popular. They truly are a very fascinating breed, and sure are little sweeties!!

They like water... It's true. Lol.

That sounds like a wonderful little collection you've got going. :)

They aren't bad with health at all. They are actually fighters, very healthy mine are and strong. I haven't noticed any issues with health, other than occasionally getting their comb pecked when broody too long. And I'd suggest nuipple waterers due to the beards. ;) But overall mighty birds.

They are pretty good in the heat. They ar eone of my breeds that rarely do that "panting" thing. They are good and heat and cold- very easy to care for other than protecting their beards and having the needs for them.

Ha ha, I doubt you'll have too many broodies! ;) Trust me, you'll enjoy them as mothers.

No problem at all! I am glad that you joined. :)

Hey Angry Hen! Just stopping in so you can get an idea of how big a fav rooster is compared to hens of different breeds if you're still on the rooster fence. Just so you know the rooster is still being absolutely perfect I'm not even kidding :)View attachment 1158673 View attachment 1158674 View attachment 1158675 View attachment 1158676

Yes, I still contemplate getting an SF rooster. I would really enjoy that. Oh what a beautiful flock! He is so so handsome. I am glad you enjoy them, thank you so much for the review. Maybe one of these days I'll get one!! :D (Hopefully in the near future. ;))
