Funny/Sad/Happy stories of your chickens

Pics
Today we took chicks outside in the backyard. We were a little Leary of taking all 25 out so we grabbed Ryan, Not Ryan and any others who seemed interested in getting out of the brooder. The two pullets (the Ryan's) and 5 cockerels jumped at the chance. So these cockerels made the experience a bit frustrating. They had no manners so the boys went in and we brought out more pullets. It was a thoroughly lovely experience on a beautiful day. It was way easier to gather them all back inside than I expected. They were all over me. I felt like the pigeon lady from Mary Poppins. This is just one reason why I love chickens.

When I was about 7 years old we had a rooster and a black Tom cat who would sleep together, share cat food, play hide and seek, and wrestled. The rooster would hide in a tree branch and would jump on the cat' s back as he walked by. This went on all day everyday. In the mornings my mom would let them both in the kitchen for breakfast and one day mom had a headache so she was opening a bottle of Tylenol and dropped one pill on the floor. Her, the cat and the rooster all tried to get the pill at the same time. The rooster won. He swallowed it. He was alright, nothing happened to him lol. I'll never forget the site of mom fighting the cat and the rooster for the pill

Sir Phillip Flopsom (named so because his comb flops to the side) is the Feed Supervisor now, I guess. He flew out of the brooder when I went to feed them yesterday. He travelled with me over to where the feed is kept and watched on as I refilled the feeder. It was the funniest thing! He was all up in what I was doing. I wish all of the cockerels were delightful. It seems the NHRs are much more sweet and cute than Lemon Pepper or his brother, Beta, who are BSLs. They're all so much fun though, even the turds.

Aw, that's adorable! :gig so far we have one cockerel for sure, but the lone wyandotte has gotten strikingly friendly since live been gone... We had an EE boy that did that, too, and he was the stupidest rooster I've ever had :/ :fl

So, something greatly amusing just happened. We have this random cat that tries to sneak into our house to eat the leftover food from my cat Angel. I heard the chickens, my two adult Silkies, making warning calls and ran out to see what was going on, turns out the black and white cat invaded the kitchen again and the chickens gave it a good scare and chased it off! It was helping itself to the leftovers from our dinner and then got ambushed by the chickens as they were coming inside for the night. It is quite ironic. The cat was eating the chicken from our dinner, and got attacked by chickens on it's way out. XD

I wish I had my camera, but I was in such a rush thinking my chickens were being attacked, that I didn't think to grab it.
