Well if you’ve seen the movie chicken people you know that one of the highlighted breeds is wyandotte. Two years ago in August we called a hatchery and asked for some wyandotte hens. They were to show as a market pen but we were told wrong breed. Then someone else told us we could. Well me thinking well I’m not gonna show them for market since I never kept records. (You have to for market) May as well show them individually. Well we had someone at a show tell us oh well those are hatchery chicks not chicks from good bloodlines they don’t care how they look so they aren’t good to show. Well I showed them and they all got blue in their divisions then placed 3rd 4th 5th and 6th overall. 😂 I still have one of them and she’s very sweet I may show her again just to see how she does.

I think I've seen a few others comment on BYC of having success with showing hatchery chickens. Mine are all hatchery except two cochins (I'm not sure where they are from) that were bought from a kid who showed them for 4-H. Anyways, my hatchery ladies are all beautiful and lay beautiful eggs (in my humble opinion, lol)
