Funny text between husband and I....

congratz on the new additions. If he complains explain a human baby over it life span costs like 250,000 dollars. Chicks are way cheaper.

he won't complain. He'll be the first to snuggle the little babies, I'm sure. He just likes to give me a hard time.

Ours went something like this:
me: while we're out, I need to stop at TSC for chick food.
him: why do we need chick food?
me: for the new chick I took out of the coop.
him: somebody hatched an egg? maybe I should talk to the manager. she might let us buy just one to keep it company.
(inside TSC)
me: look, aren't they cute?I could buy all of them.
him: just one.oh,look. they have bantams with pom poms on their heads.
me: well you know, two bantams equal one standard chicken.
him: ok. two then.that's it.
(on the way home)
me: ok, two is fine. the ones in the incubator won't be ready for about three weeks anyway.

This thread has made my night - I am so glad I'm not the only one who has conversations like this

Although now that my husband has seen the baby ducks & has fallen in love our conversations are a little more even lol

My DH and I dont have those conversations. I work at Rural King in the farm department. I take care of the chickens. If I see some he know I will bring them home. By the way we got some Seabrights in today that was special order. If all of them dont go guess what I am bringing home

One that came was very weak but when I left at 9 I had it eating and drinking I think its gonna make it. My DH has given up on curbing me

Well I got the 6 black chicks....3 fluffy black and 3 black with grey on their heads. He likes them so I told him they are his but I'll care for them

Now that I have all 30 it still does not look right...I need red. Once I get red things will really even out.

I need to go to TSC today for water softener salt if I do I just may have to get some red though I will have to admit that may be too many for us. Their coop is going to be a barn/shed the kind you see in alot of yards. It's pretty big and we are going to modify it and give them plenty of room to go outside and I plan on locking them up at night but 36 may be a bit much.....unless you chicken experts can tell me it's not and I can have multiple levels of roosts and boxes and they will be able to jump/fly up to the highest level

Yeah, only because they won't be going to college. Well, that and you can get 35 chicks, a run, and a coop for the price of one new born human. So per mouth to feed, it is less. I think.
