Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Mail Eggs....

I would have to say though, it is better than when I picked up a hen, she struggled a bit, then became so nice and calm... well, I put my hand into my pocket later and there was one HUGE pile of poo sitting in there with my wallet and phone. Yuck!

THAT has happened to me too many times to count...
Worse when it's Splort or Broody Poop...you wanna run to the nearest car wash and walk through it...

Yuck, poop would have been worse, LOL! I had an thinshelled egg break in my shorts pocket over the summer when my SLW hen, Lorelei, was having a rough time with heat stress and a sudden bad molt. Not fun, but at least I was at home when it happened!

Should be a rule. NO pockets in the coop, I have had ;my share of pocket eggs. DS took 2 to school because he forgot they were in there when he opened up the coop before leaving in AM. He was not spose to wear his good jacket to the coop, thought it was to avoid poop on it, maybe DW knows what she is talking about, if he had changed jacket the eggs would have stayed home.

I've almost done it. I've put the egg in my pocket and gone off to do other yard chores. So far I've managed to remember the egg before I've carried potted plants, or bags of feed, but its only a matter of time before I squish one.

Evil silkie chick splorted on my hand today and it dripped on my pillow. EEEEWWWWWW.

I asked my son to take the eggs out of the White Pekin's nest one morning because she had been sitting on them for over a month and finally walked away. He put them in his jacket pocket and thought he put them all in the trash. He got to school and took off his jacket in the band room, sat on it and found a really nasty yucky one still in the pocket. He told everyone his mom borrowed his jacket that morning and left it there!

my saturday morning routine is to go out feed chickens, collect any early morning eggs, feed horses then head into the house for my breakfast. The coat gets hung up. After breakfast coat gets put back on and it's out to the stable to clean stalls. Well eggs have made there way out to clean stalls with me.. some have survived to be discovered later in the day most crack while I rake, shovel and use the pitch fork.

Ah, yes, you wouldn't really be owned by chickens if you didnt have poop on your shoes and egg yolks in your pockets, right? Hey, if that's the worst thing that ever happens to me from now on, I'm on Easy Street, LOL!

Gosh, Speck.........you egged yourself in the car?? LOL!!

I have a friend who is completely new to chickens, who put one of her first eggs in her jeans pocket. She promptly forgot about the egg and bent over to pick up the feed tray..... yep, you guessed it. Egged herself, too.

(I admit I'm jealous cuz it's all I can do to get my HAND in my jeans pocket after the holidays!! LOL)

Yup, I did it. I think the problem is that I don't usually wear this coat and I can't feel anything in the pockets-they hang away from my body. If I had my usual sweats with pockets where the egg is actually next to my body, that probably wouldn't have happened.
