~>Fury of the Wind<~ (A Bird RP)

Russet scooted up to Cement. “I think you should voice your support for Fish Sticks as a leader,” he suggested, keeping his voice at a low whisper. “He seems pretty harmless and impressionable.”

“What do you think you have in leadership potential that Fish Sticks doesn’t have? Didn’t we come to a consensus yesterday? Remember his speech? The glory the gulls will have in the city? Fish Sticks did that. Show your loyalty, gulls,” Riski said, cringing at his misuse of words in the first sentence. Literally anyone would make a better leader than Fish Sticks.
Cement nodded. It was a sound idea, and if it didn’t work out, they could always escape as the gulls fought each other. She flapped up besides Riski.
“I’m the leader of the pigeons who’s allied ourselves with the gulls.” She cooed, making an effort to make her quiet coo louder and firmer to be able to be heard above the squawking masses. “My gang and I support Fish Sticks as gull leader.”

Fish Sticks, finally seeming to get a grasp on what was happening, held himself up high, trying to look like a real leader. However, he couldn’t stop his eyes from darting about, looking fearfully for Oyster and Vaatras.

Discussion started again in full force from the gulls. After a minute, a particularly excited squawk seemed to quiet the crowd somewhat. The offending gull very enthusiastically found a perch on a shriveled shrub, her feet struggling to find a steady place to stand on the abused plant. She flailed her wings to get better balance, then loudly trumpeted her idea.
“Fish Sticks needs to fight for his leadership!”

Russet grinned and nodded encouragingly.
He continued to do this until the only sane female gull character so far in this rp made an awful suggestion.
Riski let out a large, woeful sigh. He looked from the erect, skinny figure of Fish Sticks to the large, angry Vaatras. That would be slaughter.
“No! We will not settle things with violence! That would be low, like the...” Riski said, not wanting to finish his sentence and staring nervously at his pigeon allies.
Russet gave a good natured laugh. “Like the pigeons! Most of them, anyways,” he supplied.

“Ah.” Barnacles muttered. “Sorry about that, kid.” He said. He pointed with the tip of one wing to the edge of a pine forest, visible from where they were on the pier. “O’er there’s the Raven Woods. Most crows live at the border between the City and the Woods. Though there’re some that live in either of those territories.” He gazed at the Woods, worry in his eye. “I wouldn’ go into the Woods, if I were you. Heard a fledglin’ was chicknapped mighty recently.” He continued. “Not safe anymore.” He muttered.
“When was it ever really safe there-“ He responds, still hopping from foot to foot. “I mean, I’ve never thought of that place as completely safe since I’ve been alive-..”

(Wow, Oyster is offended XD)

“Fight! Fight! Fight!” The gulls chanted. Other gulls squawked angrily at them, trying to make them shut up. Feathers were ruffled and tails were bitten in the process.
“Hey! That pigeon has a point, we’re nothin’ like them!”
“Ya really want Vaatras or Oyster as a leader?! They’re jerks!”
“Fish Sticks!”
“Remember, he’s gonna restore our PIZZA!”

Cement looked down at the gulls. Whoever could put that lot like that in line was someone she would forever admire. She took a moment to appreciate her own gang’s quick loyalty. I’m lucky to be a leader to those birds. She was stirred by these thoughts to pride, savoring it for a bit, she hopped back down to Russet.

Fish Sticks stepped forward to look down at the gulls. Though many were clambering to shout fight! the loudest, there were also those that were trying to quiet them. Those that supported him. He felt surprisingly grateful for their support, despite feeling like he had not done enough to get it.
With those thoughts crowding in his mind, Fish Sticks squawked two words which he definitely never thought would come from his own beak.
“I’ll fight!”

Barnacles nodded sagely. “Much truth in that.” He rumbled. “It was as safe as it could be after the treaty, and even then it was a place to be cautious in. Though it’s always been worst for crows than us ravens.” He shot a sort of look at Yuno that could almost be seen as apologetic. “Recently the ravens ‘ave been disrespectin’ the treaty more and more. Part of the reason I don’t fly in those parts anymore.”

“Yes, he’s going to restore your—pizza,” Riski encouraged. Ugh, one of their kind had me try that nasty stuff once. Horrible. Even the anchovies tasted wrong.
“I’ll fight!” That’s what emerged from the ring-bill’s beak next.
“You’ll fight?” Riski asked.
He would have facepalmed if not for the likelyhood that he would accidentally punt the cheerful orange pigeon like a football.
Even from Fish Sticks I would have expected more intelligence than that. But he’s the leader, I should show respect.
“You never cease to amaze me, Fish Sticks,” Riski said stiffly. “So who would you like to fight?”

“Mmhmm...” He continues hopping around.
Barnacles squinted at the crow with his only eye. He had the distinct feeling that many old birds experienced; a youngster ignoring his wise words. “Well. I’ll be seein’ you. Unless ya want a bloody tour.”

Cement watched the proceedings with concern. She did not see this going well.

I don’t want to fight anyone! Fish Sticks wanted to squawk. I’m doin’ this for the honor of my gulls! His previously noble sentiments suddenly sounded weak and stupid to himself. Well, he had dove for this fry, so he had to snatch it. Summoning a satisfactory amount of bravery to lift his squawk above the excited chatter, he let out his answer in a screech.
“VAATRAS!”
Oyster is too scary. Fish Sticks silently said to himself, shuddering at the thought of fighting that weasel-gull.

Vaatras dove from the air at the call, as if waiting for his cue. He puffed out his chest mightily, strutting back in forth in front of the crowd, blocking Fish Sticks from view with his bulk.
“I accept!”

Riski cringed as Fish Sticks was eclipsed by the larger gull. Bloodbath. It’s gonna be a bloodbath.
He could have at least thought to fight the female gull, but maybe being leader had gotten to Fish Sticks’ head and he had a twisted sense of dignity.

“Where’re you gonna fight?” a gull chirped, standing on her toes and trying to peer behind Vaatras.

Woah, he’s big, thought Russet. He inflated his crop to look bigger. In a one-on-one fight, I think I could take most of these gulls. But that guy... Fish Sticks has no chance. He’d be a good ally though.
