fuzzi's Chicken Journal

Tell us how you catch them!

And I have to ask, what is a GF? That breed abbreviation is escaping me.
Stinkbugs like most bugs will "go to the light!" So I turn off lights except for one so I can reach them. If you are careful, you can get them to walk onto a piece of paper and then walk them outside, I'm sure they enjoy going from a warm house to 20F LOL You do have to be quick or they fly back in😝 OR if they are on a light or wall, I place a jar over them, the will walk into the jar, then I set it outside, they will finally make their way out of the jar and fly away.

If you try swatting at them or harrass them, they will stink you, so you just have to be patient. And that stink lingers even if you wash hands, I know from experience🤣

GF stands for Gamefowl.

Wow, I had no idea! Thank you for the info! I'll let hubby know we'll need to keep an eye on it as it gets older. I knew it would climb and we can train it to go wider, but then would have to keep it pruned or it would wind up covering up the whole coop.
It is pretty, though.

I have seen only one wisteria in all my years in the North, blooms about every 5 years or so, and is a sad little wizened thing compared to the ones in the South.
Gosh, I'm in the North. I hope it blooms every year! Maybe it's the strain as I didn't read anything about skipping years, but then again, maybe I missed it.

Well, I am in the North north. Like next stop Canada North. Not sure where in Wisconsin you are? But I think wisteria is very unlikely to become invasive up here. I think it doesn't bloom every year because it just does not get enough sunshine and heat days to set buds. Or, it gets so cold that the buds get frosted off.

And I happily now have two different people who are each taking two of my little men :yesss: leaving one little boy behind, and I may just try to keep him as the big boys don't seem to be bothered by him at all.
Yes!

I am pleased with how Zacchaeus is developing.

Look at that strut!

And Silas? So far he's behaving, being good. I wish his color was darker, though.

Abigail is looking better now, is right at the front when I expose crickets!

Happy flock in straw!

Well, I am in the North north. Like next stop Canada North.
Are you seeing full fall color already? Hopefully you have a bit more rain than we have been seeing downstate, although thankfully it rained today!

Happy flock in straw!
Zacchaeus is sporting a mighty strut there...also, I never knew how very interesting straw was until chickens! Straw always seemed pretty boring before, also dry leaves - now both are exciting commodities, indeed 😆

We have been very dry until the last few days and we got a little rain. And almost no fall color at all here, we are still getting daytime temperatures generally in the low 70s.
I did see a big flock of migrating sandhill cranes fly over this morning, and later a broadwing hawk way up in the sky. So even though the weather is warm birds are starting to move.

Fall colors holding off and still-warm temps is good news from the far north! We saw our last hummingbird about 3 days ago, just cleaned & put their feeders away. The birds sure do know what they are doing!
