And we have the first mention of the S-word in the weather forecast :hmm. But not a sure thing, at least down here near the lakes, maybe up at elevations.
Your pumpkin appears to be wearing an expression captured at mention of the s-word!

We're home!
:celebrate
My chicken sitter reported no problems, until the day before we came home. He did the waterers and feeders, checked for eggs, nothing out of the ordinary. As he was about to open the door and leave the run he said the "big rooster" rushed at him, stopped, then started "crowing". Sounds like Zacchaeus decided to be assertive about his territory, all 128 square feet of it!
;)
I currently have 11 bantams. Those higher in the pecking order get first dibs on the main roost (7' long) and the lower ranked chickens settle for the A-frame roost, almost as high. When I went out this evening after dark I heard a little twittering in the back. I went in the hoop coop to check for late afternoon eggs, then noticed that ALL of the flock are on the main roost! It's been chilly here, mid-forties, and I think it's cold enough to make a crowded roost much more appealing.

And Zack was in the middle, playing referee perhaps?

I really enjoyed the time away, but am glad to be back.

Glad you had a good time and made it home safely.
Thank you!

The crawlspace guys showed up today to clean out all the hanging insulation and bits of wood, other debris underneath the house. The installation of the vapor barrier and dehumidifier will be on Saturday. The final step will be an electrician, to create the connection for the dehumidifier. Hopefully that will make a big difference in the air quality of the house. And maybe my doors won't stick anymore in the summer.

Before today:

And then...repair/replace the fence.

Zack must have really stomped the gas pedal to go from "wee little man" to "big rooster" real quick...
Lovely vacation photos. Our home temps have been similar, hovering around 40 nights and getting a bit chilly!

I hope it all makes a big difference.

Aha, but Zack has been respectful of me since I ignored this attacks on my feet a couple months ago.

It was a nice mini vacation, and I am thankful that Ron was able to handle it.

I hope it all makes a big difference.
I hope so too. Last night both my adult son and I were very stuffed up, sore throat, etc. It occurred to me that when the workers cleared out the crawlspace they stirred up the dust and dirt, as well as the molds and fungi that have been thriving there. My main bathroom smelled like mold, but it's better today. No gain without pain.
