I found a couple rings in the run, and there are three of the smaller chicks without leg rings. I'll wait until they get bigger to try again.

I noticed over a week ago that one of the smaller chicks seems to have a funky middle toe on its left foot.

So I tried some close ups.

It seems to get along just fine.

Injury or defect?

Updates to the hoop-stead this afternoon...

Number One:

The landscape pins would not hold down the apron by the door, whether it was due to warped hardware cloth, uneven ground, or ??? They'd pop up out of the ground, NOT good!

I ordered some 12" rebar pins used to secure tents. They came today and I installed them, deep. The HWC may still be warped but now the apron stays put!

Update Number Two:

Chicks have been trying to take dust baths in spilled feed.

when I had ripples in my apron, I would simply cut a line through the ripple to help it lay flat and pin it down with the landscape pins.
