Did some work tightening up the hardware cloth:

Tamar (her comb is getting red):

Lydia on the left, Abigail in the middle:

Lydia appears to be camera-shy:

And that's Naomi on the right:

Such cuties! :love
And aside from Lydia, they've warmed up to She Who Brings Grapes/Tomatoes. This afternoon Naomi was perched next to the door, so I pushed a piece of overripe tomato through the hardware cloth and she went "to town" on it!

The Dominiques don't crowd around my feet as the Sussex do, not yet, but I believe it's coming.

Mine go crazy for tomatoes, cucumbers and any kind of melons. They have to get all those seeds.
I did some trimming today, including a bunch of wild grape vines. I wasn't sure if green grapes would be good for the flock, so I didn't share.

See all the grapes along the edge? ⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️

I don't know about the green grapes but if they were free range they would probably check them out.

We have wild grapes growing around our property too. Some are growing up through a couple hydrangeas. I keep digging it out and must be missing some root. After a while I see a sprig popping back up. I rarely see grapes on these.

We do have a couple 20 year old cultivated scuppernongs. They are usually loaded most years.

No eggs yet...

After church and lunch I went outside to check on the chicks (I can't seem to get away from using the word "chicks"!) and wound up puttering a little inside the coop.

The Dominiques no longer hide under the wire box, so I moved it away from the back corner and into the open area to add more clutter:

I think I will move the bricks all the way to the right...

The newly opened area had to be investigated:

Both of my boys, Samuel and Joel:

I think Joel is looking much better:

But Samuel's right side looks closer to standard than his left, see the lined up speckles on his right wing?

Hannah looks like she's going to need a corset:

Martha, too:

Rahab has not yet developed the Sussex "brick" shape:

One more of the Dominiques:

Still no eggs...

But I discovered that our fig tree had ripe fruit, some overripe!

I picked as much as I could reach, kept the good ones:

Fed a few overripe figs to the flock, including the beetles that were also eating the figs.

Martha prefers overripe tomatoes:

Hannah found a beetle:

Some of the larger 🪲 reminded me of June bugs, but they were metallic green instead of reddish-brown.

Bon appetit, boys!
