I believe so!
When my hens are laying it get's noisy. They get loud.

Went out to the coop after church today, and brought them some thick slices of Summer squash. As I laid them down Martha left the nest box to get her share. The fake egg was warm, no real egg. Hope she starts laying again, or her sisters begin!

Martha is OFF the nest!

But I'm not sure that she was the gal who laid the egg I found:

Egg on the left is Martha's, the one I found today is definitely smaller.

I started installing the ground anchors after work today.

I kept hitting large roots in the northwest corner, so I had to move the anchor farther away from the frame.

Down deep!

I managed to start installing the other three, but I had to stop once my body cried "Uncle!"

As I toiled away the Dominiques kept coming close to observe what I was doing, just like cats!

My brother and dh have offered their hand and arm strength tomorrow to finish screwing the anchors into the ground. Then I plan to attach them to the coop frame with pipe straps.

Part two!

Anchors are in deep and solid, thanks to my helpers. I used the plumber's strapping, fender washers, and 2 1/2" deck screws to attach the coop frame and anchors on all four corners.

The Dominiques love to investigate!

I don't anticipate strong enough winds this time to shift the coop, but I have done what I could to prevent it in the future.

The Tar River is very low too, thankfully.
We have very tall pines. I will be watching them and the creek across the road.
Cautiously optimistic. They say it will hang off the coast this weekend. Will be keeping an eye on that. I know the beaches hate it. Last big weekend of summer.

Got an egg today, a smaller one. It was Iaid in the middle box, so I don't think it's from Martha. She uses the box on the right.
