Looks like she's giving them a lecture!
It looks like they are paying attention. :love

She's telling them about wire baskets!
Good one!

My great niece is about 7, loves animals, wants to be a farmer. I send my sister pictures and videos of my chickens to share. Her granddaughter said "Naomi was teaching them, one egg and one egg equals 2 eggs"
:love

I was able to talk to a vet online. They suggested epsom salts (someone here did so as well) and then a hydrogel spray. Found the latter at TS. I soaked gauze in an epsom salt solution, applied it to the area under Tamar's wing for a couple minutes. She actually stopped struggling, the cool water may have felt good. Then I blotted dry the area with more gauze, and sprayed it with the hydrogel. I let it air for about a minute then let her go. She acted insulted (good sign) and went in a nesting box to chill sulk.

The yellow I thought was infection is actually her skin color. And still there's no "off" smell.
:fl

Chick Roll Call!

They are probably one of the OE breeds, based upon the chick photos on Hoover's website. Anyone want to hazard a guess? They are bantams, and their legs are cream to light yellow. I believe they were hatched a week ago, 6/23 or 6/24.

Yes, this one is that dark.

I'm not concerned about sex as I will keep females for eggs, males will go to auction.

3 weeks ago I gave nine eggs to a friend to put in their incubator. A week ago they called me in a panic realizing they had not turned on their egg turner :(. I don't think they're all that experienced at candling, I told them if two days goes past hatch day that they probably are no good. And as we all know, these things happen.

I am sorry.

I have not candled the eggs I put in the incubator a week ago. The egg turner thingamajiggy doesn't turn eggs as programmed, so I push the manual button in the morning, and again at supper, and before bed.

Incubator
Day 7 - July 3
Day 14 - July 10
Day 21 - July 17 !
