I am planning to meet someone on Friday who wants two of the Sussex cockerels. :)

Travel carrier ready to go, just add straw and boys!
What a good idea in reusing a feed bag for a lid!
When I purchased my bantam hen, they had her in a hamper in the living room with a towel over the top. It was all very cute and she cost $3. :love

And free twine from my straw bales!

Buying out the Dollar Tree again 🤣

I'm glad you are finding them homes, that must be a relief.
I found 4 baskets in the sheds, recall I bought a few extras. For the tops I have used bird netting in the past, but feed bags are free. The birds being transported have lots of ventilation through the sides.

Me too, re: new homes. The local auction's last event is in August, too early for this years' Sussex to attend.

It's definitely time for the extra boys to go. The shreiking has toned down, but I want to reduce the stress of extra cockerels. Yesterday I observed Zaccheus walking slowly towards the youngsters, and those that didn't move quickly enough got a peck from Daddy. He's training them.

Joanna squatted by the door, strained, and laid a shell-less egg, but the membrane broke. So then she, Rahab, and Priscilla each got 1/2 a calcium citrate pill, the tablets are too big for them to swallow whole. Hannah didn't, as she made herself scarce, but I think she was the hen I treated before.

If this isn't just a one time event, it's no wonder I'm not finding eggs!
