My Retirement Day!

Worked til 11am.

Came home, baked pies.

Picked up Caleb about 3pm.

Good as gold on the ride (30 minutes) home.

We've had

1 leash walk around the house (inside)
2 leash walks in the front yard
2 leash walks down to the stop sign and back (about 7 houses down)
1 leash walk down to the stop sign and back, then down the side street before heading home
1 leash walk around the back yard
2 off leash runs in the back yard after dark

He saw the outside cats, wanted to "visit" very badly, but I wouldn't let him.

He's been very restless, anxious, but not worrisome. I gave him a Time Out in his day crate. When he yipped I left the room.

Debbie our cat came out of the bedroom once I crated Caleb. He yipped, her eyes grew large, and she walked back to the bedroom. Actually, that was good. She didn't run. She's sulking under the bed.

Caleb and I played some with a furry squeak ball, working on "off", "drop", and sitting once I have the ball. When I tossed it at him 2'-3' away he easily caught it.

He started finally winding down, lying for a few minutes before doing a house circuit again, touching base with me for a pet, then lying down again.

Now he's resting in his crate.

And I'm tired!

🤗 Sounds like you had a nice retirement day.

I wish You and everyone here on Fuzzi's Friends a Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving All!

This will be my first Thanksgiving without Ron, after 45 years. Caleb will be a good distraction, I think.

Pies and cranberry sauce are done. I will start the stuffing and turkey after 6am.

Caleb whined on and off for about 45 minutes after being put in his bed crate, but has been quiet since. Eventually, I wouldn't mind him sleeping on the bed, IF he behaves.

Thanksgiving

Everything turned out well. I baked a couple of my home grown sweet potatoes, and apparently I did the curing correctly...they were sweet, with a nice texture. I heated up green & wax beans, and peas from my Spring garden, too...delicious!

Caleb is settling in, hard to believe it's just been 48 hours!

Sounds delicious!

I'm glad Caleb is settling in, he looks like a sweetheart❤️

I hope the weather is holding well for you, it's getting colder here, at least the wind is not blustering like it was this morning at 21F. Yes, I know the Northern folks are laughing at that 21, but it's cold! I have a nice fire going so can't complain too much:)

21 feels cool to me too, especially this early in the season.
Looks like my plans for traveling home tomorrow a two thumbs down, winter storm warnings and travel advisories all over the place. I know some people would just try to push through it, but I am not stupid. At least not anymore. I have white knuckleed a couple of bad trips through big snowstorms and never want to do it again.

Big pile-up reported, in Illinois I think.

Daughter and family were visiting my sister in western Illinois, planning to travel back to Chicago today. They got on the road yesterday, after supper, and beat the snow's arrival by a couple hours. I'm so glad.
