Some of the Sussex gals enjoying clumps of grass I dug up just for them.

Those look to be very interesting clumps of grass, indeed ❤️

Much more welcome than gumball gusts are those fresh eggs. Good job Claudia and Lois!

We saw a bee out today in MI. Not quite your 60 degrees, but it did hover around 50, the warmest in quite a while. A lot of snow melted. Is all of yours gone yet?

Happy Valentine’s Day to fuzzi & friends!

Yesterday I got four eggs...two Sussex pullet eggs, one from a game bird pullet, and one from a hen, suspect a Dominique (top right):

But todays eggs were three Sussex (one was a hen egg), one game bird pullet, and another hen egg, either from a Dominique...or Esther!

It's rained every day for weeks now here in Bristol, It's also been windier than usual according to the weather records.
I wouldn't swap for the snow though. Snow is wonderful when you've got nothing that needs doing. The rain, one can keep most of it off but the entire transport network doesn't grind to a halt and one doesn't need a shovel.

Good job little ladies! Is Esther laying/fully recovered?

I am not sure if the hen eggs in Coop Deux are coming from Esther or the Dominiques, the color is too similar. She appears to be recovered, but lower in rank to the Doms.

She's become very chatty, greets me at the door to the coop.
:love

Noisy roost time last night. That's Jacob, hatched in July. His father, Zaccheus was patroling the inside perimeter, making alarm calls for about 15 minutes. I couldn't see anything.

In Coop Deux Silas got tired of the noise and settled down to roost. Abigail kept squawking.

Esther's on the far left.

Here's Dinah, from today:
