Nice bird.Here are the requested pics, i did what i could before the batteries got cold and died. I didn't get too many of the babies and the adults, but i did as many as i could of the black and white baby and the d'uccles: (Pardon the poop, i had to do the pics before i did my daily scrape out)
This is the look i got when the EE trio took a look out the door
Clearly, they had their doubts! I booted them out anyway to let the little guys eat in peace
Maurice's poopy feet. I trimmed in the fall, some have grown and some are still short but you can see that even the middle toe is fully feathered! These feather feet are poop tracking machines though ! I had to skimp on the chips 'till mon so i could get the de-icer, which is working beautifully.
-Try soaking his feet in Dawn and warm water. Soak them for about 5 minutes or so, then try to rub out the poop with your fingers. Sophie has that problem too..............
Being manly
and now he's happy!
-Looks good! You don't really want any wattles on d'Uccles. He has a really nice beard and muffs. His stance is good. If you want to show him try to keep his vulture hocks in good condition. They get really raggedy really easily, and once that happens they take a long time to be normal again.
Almost nonexistent wattles.......
-Nice big comb. I would consider that 5 points, but a judge might call it six because of that little thing on the end.
definitely not the best pic for this, but some of the feathers have the barest of white; i have read that some boys are slower to get their tail spots so this does show promise.........
-My Oscar (1 year in Feb.) still doesn't have the spots on his tail, but Jerkface (3 years in April) has a lot more spots, even though it took him a long time to get it in. Porcelains and Millie Fleurs take awhile to get their full color in. Porcelains start out mostly white (except roosters, who are more of a pale yellow color with blue tails), then as they get older more blue comes in, then when they hit about 2 white comes in OVER the blue. With Millie Fleurs they start out mostly red with a little black on the tips of their feathers, then as they get older they get more black, and then when they are about 2 they start getting white over the black. Eventually the base color will almost disappear.
Another side shot, would this be considered 5 points? That is the standard for the combs;
you can see his colors good here too.
-Nice. His wing is a little off but that looks like it will be normal after he molts.
and a front view of his chest
-He's got a nice shape. Good stance.
