Dude, I love the color of emu eggs. When are they due to hatch?

Ash, that is so true about the weather! Lol, I was outside in a sweatshirt today. Can you say what the hey! Yeah. Wind is something else right now too.

Mom, have the same thing with that evil hawk there a few weeks ago. Evil evil bird.

Gigi, lunch would be cool.

Robin, that crap is back with the first bird! I went with the higher dose in their food this time. I don't think this crazy weather is helping. Everywhere around here is out of braggs too. Gonna hit the health
food store on the other side of town tomorrow. Really need it!

Hi silver, tee and Rusty.

HA HA Michagan in these pics could be Washington LOL!!
I took these the first time I had guineas (hatched ot of an egg)
Those are so cool. We thought about guineas but I know they are noisy and DH loves how quiet our place is (even with the goats and hens) plus we have major predators everywhere so I'm not sure they would last long.

We are enjoying the 50 degree weather like it was springtime. Everyone knows the 100's are right around the corner.

the city came today- ON A SATURDAY- and told me I have one week to get rid of my chickens.

I WAS fighting mad, now I am just crushed.

I dont bother a soul. I hang out in my backyard with my birds, and we bother nobody. I am so hurt that someone called. I put up with EVERYTHING in this neighborhood, just so I dont make waves..and have for fourteen years. Now though, someone so much as farts, I am calling the city.

So, because I want to be left alone- I am going to make a BIG HUGE production of moving my birds out. I will put them in cages in the front yard, and make sure the maximum number of people see me load them into the truck. Then I am going to move them to Robins' for a few weeks.

Then, I am bringing them back.

I will clear out their everything. Then - my husband said we will screen their whole area, falcon-proof it, and make sure the window to my utilty room is INSIDE the screened in area. If the city asks, we will say its the Cats pen. A way for them to go out.

My heart is broken really. I dont know who did it- its easy to blame my new next door neighbors. But on the flip side, its easy for someone to call, knowing I would blame the new people.

I had a great visit at Robins' and am grateful that she is my friend and someone I can take the chickens and roosters too. Thats where I was when the city came- delivering Chicken Little to Robins' house.

Oh, wait. It's Saturday. LOL

Mom2, that sucks. Some people have nothing better to do in their lives but to cause grief for others and stick their noses where they don't belong. Hope everything works out for you.

So I stopped to pick up a couple bales of hay today for the goats and the price was raised to $6/bale. What the????? I'm starting to really get fed up with this farm raising the price every time I go. They were only $2.50 in 2011, then raised to $5 during last years drought. That's an initial 100% mark-up followed by a 20% one now. Geesh. Looks like I need to start looking for a cheaper place to buy from even though this place is just super convenient because I go by there every time I work.

Oh I know. I asked the neighbor when he goes again, to let me know. I just want 1 bale. thats it. Just one. One would last me the whole winter for what I want it for. Well anyway, he goes, and gets straw, and forgets that I asked him. Sheesh. I would have went and got it and his, just to make it worth going, but not going to go there for one bale right. I can fit like 6 bales in the jeep with the seat layed down.

Guess I will be paying the $6 bucks.

I was on the mi thread, and some one had said that they had made hoop runs using pvc 1/2 in... and when they got a wet heavy snow, it collapsed. Now, I do remember when I started to work on my roof, I asked several times for advice. I said what I was using... I wish that person had told me to use the bigger pvc instead of what I was planning. Now I am seriously paranoid about it collapsing. We are supposed to get dumped on this weekend and then over the next few days... As long as the weather stays frigid enough, it won't be to heavy, can make sure it is off... BUT if it gets warmer, the snow will be wetter... Now I am freaking out. Yup...

They raised the price of their straw, too, from $2.50 to $3.50 which I don't understand at all, but have no problem with because it's still cheaper than anywhere else. It's the fact that they keep raising the hay price so much every time I stop.
