Fuzzy's Farm

Tee, hope it goes well for your mom.

Gigi, hope you didn't get too shaken up! How far were you from that?

I'm so glad your mom is okay, Tee. I hope she is up and about soon.

Hi Rusty. The earthquake was about 20 miles north of us. We were asleep but all of a sudden all the dogs jumped on the bed and were just going crazy so they obviously felt it. Both DH and I were awake after that so at 5:00 we are sitting drinking coffee and wondering what in the world had happened. Then DH read about the earthquake so it made sense and the dogs knew what they were doing - lol.

Oh wow glad yall are ok gigi that is scary

The Oklahoma Geological Survey has recorded 46 earthquakes today. Most are too small to feel but it's worrisome. There's a lot of oil and gas fracking going on and some of the latest research suggests that can cause shifts in fault lines. We do have a major fault (can you believe it in Oklahoma) that goes right up the middle of the state so I imagine that's what's rumbling around. So come to lovely Oklahoma and you can enjoy tornados, drought, wildfires and earthquakes - LOL!
I was headed up to school this morning and there were two beautiful long haired Australian shepherds sitting by the roadside obviously lost. I'm the ultimate softee so I stopped and got them into the car and came back home. DH called the number on their tags (thankfully they had tags) and the guy was working in Anadarko which is 3 hrs from us. He came back home later in the day and came out to pick them up. They had gotten out of their yard and traveled almost 2 miles that morning. He thinks it was the earthquakes that set them off. I'm so glad we found their home. Even the chickens were kind of stressed today.

HOw's the goat today Fuzzy? Poor thing. I think I might have to accidently hit someone on purpose...

Tee, glad your mom is good to go.

Gigi, holy cow! Glad you were able to help get the dogs back home. Apparently when there are earthquakes, animals come up lost big time.

HI, Silver, Savannah, Rusty, Robin, Kim... Everyone.

Got a free bale of straw today from a lady who helps Jace's Bible Club teacher. I was asking her where she's finding the best straw price right now, I need it for the mud run. She told me she had one, but that in the growing season, her neighbor one down from her sells for 3.50 a bale. SO, went out to her place, checked out her baby cows, they are on the bottle, and OMG! SO CUTE! Jace thought the farm was great. He was up in the loft and jumped on the hay bales and in general was a very happy boy. He wishes we had a farm like it. LOL

Well, time for me to get the boys to bed.

Pray we don't get more rain... the ground is to water logged right now. I don't think I can handle it... My poor birds.

Wow, Gigi, sounds like quite a day in OK. Glad it wasn't too bad for you in your area. Good thing you saw the lost dogs and were able to help them and find their owner.
Fuzzy, how is the goat? Any improvement?

Yeah, I haven't been on. My dad passed away unexpectedly last Monday.
Oh Gigi! That is terrible!

My heart aches for you and your family.
It never stops hurting after someone is gone, gets a little less everyday, but never stops.
I need help with the goat.
People make me sick.
Glad you got him back and I hope he makes it.
I agree on the slow feeding.
Thanks everyone. Everything went well and she is doing fine. She's very sore and hurts from the procedure, but they were able to do what they needed to.

Our mail trucks aren't boats.
Glad she is okay!!

LOL Strap a canoe to the roof! You are going to need it!!

I did something awful...
I marked the eggs that I am letting Shawarma sit on with little Xs.... "Little" being the key word...
I grabbed the wrong egg from under her the other day and put it in the fridge.
I candled last night and found 2 that were not developing...one extra egg along with one mystery one... neither had Xs
I was so upset after I figured out what I had done!!! I cracked it open and found the lil baby growing in there to be 1/2in long. Poor baby.
That will NEVER happen again! Ulg, so sad.

I wish they would use the other nesting boxes!!!

Has anyone ever seen chickens take turns sitting on the eggs? When Shawarma gets off the eggs, Pattie sits on them... I assumed she was laying an egg... but no Pattie egg today and she was sitting while Shawarma ate some quick greens.
Shawarma is so funny when she gets up... she looks frantic and hurried the whole time she is walking around. Like she is on speed and can't decide what to do first! LOL

I can't tell if Noodles eggs are doing anything at all, but both of Pattie's eggs are developing great!
Noodles shells are too thick and too dark to see through. I did get to see Pattie's baby move in the egg while candling!!!! So excited!!!

Goat was doing OK yesterday. DH would not listen to me on the easy feeding, so he let him out to free feed on the grass; goat didn't get far; DH claims he didn't do anything but nibble but between that and the corn...... wasn't bloated, but i think his tummy was very upset. Feel like i'm talking to a rock! But i think after seeing how piddly he's eating perhaps he may listen; but it's become one of those "you told me what to do and i don't have to listen to you" things. Grr. He also trimmed the nails instead of waiting.

Buuuut, goat survived and was laying in the sun smiling and chewing his cud, and he didn't try to take out my kneecaps so i guess for now he likes me.

I checked his eyes/ gums, and yes he was on the last stage of anemia; found out why though. DH was scriching him and looked down and saw a movement, upon closer inspection we saw that every square inch of the goat was riddled with biting lice! I'm not talking a few, DH said for a quarter sized space there was at least 40! And they were mostly adults, attached firmly into the skin and not moving even when pestered. So i had to make a judgement call, decided that since his gums and eyes where almost white the lice were the greater evil vs. the stomach, and dosed him with the generic pour-on ivermectin that i used on the chickens. So back on pins and needles, but supposing he makes it through the night should have a much better chance at full recovery. There was no way we could feed him and help him while he was losing that much blood!

Aw, poor goat.

Well, I'm about to head out on this beautiful morning to take my son to the oral surgeon to get his lower wisdoms removed. Poor kid. I hated it when mine were removed.
Anyway, have a great day everyone. Enjoy the sun before we get rained on.

Good morning all, Gigi so sorry about the goat. You can help him just do what you know to do for him. People like that should be ashamed of themselves for starving animals. Tee sorry to hear about your mom will keep her in my prayers. Nova sorry about all the water, I've had to fight water issues too! Have a great day everyone!
