Fuzzy's Farm

Well... you could have wet the sand then packed it with a roller... LOL. SO... Yes, extra work yes... LOL. Congrats on the Grandkiddo!

My back is killing me. I worked on the garage... AGAIN. I built a wall in the gararge, put up roost, set the nest boxes. Need a door. Think I will use the door I bought for my bedroom but never put up. Need to put up the trim for the pop door also, as well as clean out the little dog house that the pop door exits too. Right now there is just some junk in there, chicken wire, buckets, jack stands... LOL. Hey, it was a dry place, it worked.

I also had to start putting Florus in his own coop with some of the girls again. Dang Rod has been getting overly aggressive again lately. I don't know why. He's just being a jerk. Good thing I have room for making pens with in the run structure.

Well... Tired. Have to hit the store for dish detergent as cat litter before ma has a coranary...

gigi, congratulations on the new grandbaby !

Boy or girl?

We are in the wrong business with our birds. selling a few eggs now and then. DH told me he heard on his XM radio the other day, where somewhere (couldn't remember where) there were people renting chickens out. For $350.00 you could rent two chickens, a waterer and feeder for the summer. What a deal!

It's a little boy 7lbs11oz. His name is Brann. Can't say I like that much but it was DIL's grandfather's name -- although I think some family names should die a natural death - LOL. Next DIL is due at the end of next week. Then 3rd. DIL is due end of Oct so they are just coming in bunches - ha.

Wow! You could go into business just renting chickens but I would worry if they were being taken care of.

Wow, you are working so hard! I just got this new thing off amazon for backaches or any aches. It's the size of a heating pad but filled with gel. You put it in the freezer and let it get cold and then lay on it. My friend swears by it as she has lots of arthritis. It's supposed to really help the pain.

I've got four of my hens molting like crazy. There are feathers everywhere and talk about grumpy... Poor babies. The other girls walk a wide path around them.

Well, the new gravel or screenings work wonderfully. It's so nice not to have slimy stinky slippery mud holes everywhere when it rains. But what a pain getting to this point

Gigi, congrats on the first new grandbaby.

My back hurts today, too. Only I did whatever to it while I was sleeping last night. I woke up because of the pain and realized the dog had me pinned down by her weight to the point I couldn't move so I tried to shove her off, but she was very resistant. It's bothered me all day and is still. I'm planning on taking an advil pm soon so that it will help with the pain and help me sleep some despite it. I wake up enough as it is during the night, so I really don't need any help from my back.
Let me know how that gel pack thing works out for you. It might be a good investment for me.

Ditto on that.

Last night, I had to move the birds, one by one, to the new coop area. I have a bunch more work to do too, like getting the pop door working. Anyway, While I was moving the birds, I realised, I didn't put up enough roosts. I thought I did, but I have these witches with b beginning, hens, that are just... well, There is nothing like ESTABLISHING prime roosting spots. I ended up moving Hawkarella back to the outdoor coop. She's decided that she doesn't want her chicks near her, and was VERY agressive about it last night. SO, out she went. I put her in with Florus. Then I came back to the garage, and everyone was down off the roosts, checking out there new digs and eating it up. SO, I went out and closed up the out door coops, came back again and Amber was in attack mode. That witch with a b was trying to hog a roost all to herself. Chasing everyone else off of it... HELLO!! FOUR FOOT LONG ROOST!! Anyway... I decided, she can go in with Florus too. Florus comes to the garage for her EVERYDAY, so I just saved him a trip. Came back to the garage, and there was PEACE. What?? YES! They were all up, the japs and yokos were cuddled together on a roost, along with their adopted weirdo brood mate, the bantam faverolles hen. Loralie and Little Pretty were together, and then the two unnamed faverolle pullets and the bantam/silkie cross pullet and Big Boy (faverolles cockerel-so laid back he's a wussy, and he's taking after his papa... slow to develope colors) were all together on another roost, with Ekta the Serema, tucked in between them. LOL She is so tiny, that the Jap Bantam chicks are bigger than she is!

Ok... now on for problem I have with Little Pretty. She has healed up remarkably, only now she has this hard growth, like a huge callous-cement block- on her foot. No, it isn't bumble. It is on the pad, but it is hard, you can actually hear it click the floor like a high heal... Anyway, I am thinking it might be residual leg mite? I have no idea what to do for it. I will catch her tonight and take a pic. She does favor that leg too, it is the one that was injured in the coon attack, so I didn't notice it that much at first, but it does pain her to try and stand, it throws her off balance. It litterally looks like a block growing out of her foot, and it is HARD. Not inflammed like bumble... You've got to see it. I will get pics tonight before I redcote her feet to soften it up. Might have to cage her for a few days too...

We got the letter in the mail yesterday, official cancellation notice.
It says we are being canceled because "Due to the lack of underwriting information (unknown business exposure on premises. insured's are raising chickens and geese).
They are making it sound like I am a big commercial operation. Last I knew we are in the hole several thousand from my hobby. I am wondering if I had a garden and set out tomato's and cukes by the road for sale if that would be considered a business. O if I had an apple tree and sold a bushel of apples.
Gee whiz I sure am glad I haven't sold any of my crocheted blankets or scarves. What is this world coming to?
I just looked up business in Websters, breakfast, dinner and eye candy are nowhere in the definition.

hi everyone!

Been MIA for most of a month. Here's a recap: Beginning of the month i mentioned finding a few mites on my birds in the little coop, kinda freaked me out since i had brought my little maurice into the house. They weren't much of an issue since i had recently treated my birds for lice anyway, but they left an unpleasant surprise behind; pox. :( At least it was the dry kind and not in the lungs. From what i've read it's self limiting and all it'll do is give my birds that got it immunity and shouldn't make them carriers. The birds in the big coop were spared. I think it's from the visiting wild turkey hen and her baby. Birds won't eat the food that gets pooped on, so i scatter it all around for whatever wild ones want it. :)

Started my new job, i like it! Boring at times as all factory is, but it's easy peasy and good money.
