How the heck does she hatch the eggs with out smushing them, but then brings them home and smushes them... Was she maybe trying to get another hen or hens away and trampled them in the process? Sorry bout your chicks though... Really sucks.

I think the dogs were chasing the cat in there and she freaked and smashed them. And the box is kind of on a slope, so they probably fell to the bottom and...yeah.......

Well, then she probably didn't do it on purpose. Maybe next time, you can put her in a safer place so the cat adn dog don't freak her out. Poor mama... I bet she'd devastated also. I know when one of my hens loses a chick, she's even more violent and vicious for several days.

I'm sure she didn't, I just feel stupid because I was just about to move her to the brooder, and it probably wouldn't have happened. But she's still going in the tractor because this isn't the first time she's gone broody in the barn, and I don't want a repeat.

That was actually in reference to another person who stopped in and I said "HI" to, but she did not bother to respond to the direct hello I gave her. That was why I posted that she was rude.

I know what you were meaning BYFM... I am also thinking though, that the $200 would probably fix a few issues I have with the jeep, but it wouldn't be as much fun to spend that way...
